We are seeking a compassionate BC/BE Family Physician to join our team.

Established in 2006, Squirrel Hill Health Center (SHHC) is a non-profit, community based, federally qualified health center with two locations and a mobile unit serving the Pittsburgh region.

Our mission is to provide patient-driven, high-quality, comprehensive, primary and preventative healthcare, behavioral health, OB/GYN, dental, pharmacy, lab services, and care navigation services, regardless of patients’ insurance status or ability to pay. Our ideal candidate will be a BC/BE compassionate and dedicated Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathy with a current, unrestricted license to practice medicine in the State of Pennsylvania; experienced in providing comprehensive services in an ambulatory setting to include well-patient care, preventative care, diagnosis and treatment of acute illness, and long-term chronic disease management for patients of all ages and from diverse backgrounds.

PHYSICIAN RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Elicits and records information about patient’s medical history.
  • Examines patient to determine general physical condition.
  • Orders or executes various tests, analyses, and diagnostic images to provide information on patient’s condition.
  • Analyzes reports and findings of tests and of examination, and diagnoses condition.
  • Administers or prescribes treatments and medications.
  • Inoculates and vaccinates patients to immunize from communicable diseases.
  • Advises patients concerning diet, hygiene, and methods for prevention of disease.
  • Ensures that medical care is completely and accurately documented in the medical record.
  • Maintains and monitors patient confidentiality.
  • Reports births, deaths, and outbreak of contagious diseases to governmental authorities.
  • Refers patients to medical specialists or other practitioners for specialized treatment.
  • Performs minor surgery and other procedures commensurate with surgical competency and delineated privileges.
  • Makes house and emergency calls to attend to patients unable to visit the office at the direction of the Chief Medical Officer.
  • Provides care on SHHC’s mobile medical unit on a schedule determined by SHHC’s Chief Medical Officer.
  • Takes rotating after hours call with other clinicians at the direction of the SHHC Chief Medical Officer.
  • Provides supervision of Advance Practice Providers, medical assistants and medical students as needed at the direction of the Chief Medical Officer.
  • Works with clinical team members to provide comprehensive care to specified patient panel.
  • Prepares and signs all forms and charts, including all charting in electronic health record, needed for patient care and billing in accordance with current policies.
  • Abides by the policies and procedures of the Squirrel Hill Health Center and acts as a positive representative of the center in the community, whether real or virtual.
  • Other duties and tasks as may be assigned

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Doctor of Medicine or Osteopathy degree from an accredited medical school plus completion of a minimal 3-year residency program in family medicine.
  • A license without restriction to practice as a physician in Pennsylvania
  • Board certification in Family Medicine
  • Eligible to participate in Medicare and Medicaid programs.
  • Eligible for enrollment in required managed care and insurance contracts.
  • Demonstrated sound problem-solving and decision-making ability.
  • Demonstrated skill in planning and organizing work, managing time, and meeting commitments.
  • Demonstrated well-developed interpersonal skills to interact in sensitive and/or complex situations with a variety of people; expertise with multicultural populations.
  • Demonstrated very high level of communication skills to effectively communicate verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to represent organization in a professional manner.
  • Computer skills.
  • BLS certified.
  • Flexibility and willingness to work some evenings and weekends.
  • Knowledge of a second language preferred.
  • Ability to work in any SHHC location as necessary
  • Dedication to providing high quality health care to all patients. 
  • Willingness to receive all CDC recommended immunizations.
