Squirrel Hill Health Center (SHHC) is seeking a dedicated Outreach and Enrollment Coordinator to facilitate the enrollment of eligible health center patients and service area residents into affordable health insurance coverage through the Health Insurance Marketplaces (Exchanges), Medicaid, and/or the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP). ​ The Coordinator will also connect patients to SHHC’s Sliding Scale Application when appropriate and coordinate outreach and enrollment activities to maximize resources. ​

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Participate and excel in all required training. ​
  • Assist consumers in accessing streamlined application processes for Medicaid, CHIP, and Marketplace health plans. ​
  • Explain and manage SHHC’s Sliding Scale Application process. ​
  • Expand patient education around the Sliding Scale Application and other areas under the direction of the CFO. ​
  • Ensure patients are connected to all qualifying insurance/Sliding Scale options and improve internal documentation for billing. ​
  • Maintain expertise in eligibility and enrollment rules, health plan options, and privacy standards. ​
  • Conduct public education activities to raise awareness about coverage options. ​
  • Provide fair, accurate, and impartial information and assistance. ​
  • Refer individuals to applicable health insurance consumer assistance offices or ombudsmen. ​
  • Complete all required federal and/or state consumer assistance training. ​
  • Conduct outreach to uninsured health center patients and non-health center consumers. ​
  • Coordinate SHHC Outreach and Enrollment team activities and community outreach events. ​
  • Collaborate with other health centers, safety net providers, community businesses, and government entities. ​
  • Collect data for internal, national, state, and local agency reports. ​
  • Perform other duties as assigned. ​

Qualifications:

  • 1-3 years’ experience working with underserved and vulnerable populations and community resource programs preferred. ​
  • Minimum of a High School diploma or equivalent required. ​
  • Ability to attain knowledge of eligibility and enrollment rules, health plan options, and privacy standards. ​
  • Knowledge of community resources. ​
  • Ability to work effectively with underserved and vulnerable populations. ​
  • Successful completion of required federal and/or state consumer assistance training. ​
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills. ​
  • Advanced computer skills. ​
  • Excellent interpersonal skills. ​
  • Valid driver’s license, dependable transportation, and ability to travel between health center sites and throughout the service area. ​
  • Flexibility to work evening and weekend hours as needed. ​
  • Fluency in Nepali and/or Spanish preferred.
  • All CDC recommended immunizations, including updated COVID-19 vaccines ​required
